Internet Adventures - Parkour and Parkour Videos!

The art of motion, or as it's more commonly known, Parkour/Free Running is a rapidly growing sport especially in urban areas. The best way to describe it is with the phrase "artistic ninja". The sport involves taking obstacles such as railings, walls, ledges etc. and moving over around or through them in an artistic and interesting way. It is a great display of athleticism as well as creativity, the cooler the trick on the simpler the obstacle usually means the more skilled the athlete or "treceur". It was created in the french military to quickly retrieve fallen soldiers and bring them back for medical attention, now it is used by urban youth to keep active and look awesome doing it.
Recently more and more competitions for Parkour/Free Running have been popping up around the globe, turning this hobby into a fully realized sport and in some cases a career. As in the case of most sports, teams started emerging. The most well known team at this point is probably Storm Freerun and for good reason. ->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHy9W9LpvlQ&ob=av3e<- Everyone on the team is recognized as one of the best in the world, each of them coming from various backgrounds in martial arts, break dancing, rock climbing etc. brought together by this wonderful new sport.
I myself have been Free Running for a few years now and as someone who could never really get into other sports I find it that much more intriguing. It's unlike skateboarding or rollerblading because it's so new. In skateboarding the basics are to master tricks such as the "kick flip" and the "shuvit", things that have already been invented, mastered, used and reused until they have barely any creativity and originality to them whatsoever. Free Running is so new and so varied depending on where you live and what obstacles you have access to that the possibilities are almost endless. There doesn't have to be any gear involved at all. No pads or helmet (unless you're not very good) and you don't need anyone else to do it with. You just put on your shoes and hit the town.

Internet Adventures - PS Vita

Sony's new handheld gaming platform launched in North America a little while ago and it was less than exceptional. Certainly not bad, but really just underwhelming. Normally when a new game launches there are people at my school who at least talk about it or sometimes stay home to play it, in the case of Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. But, there is no talk whatsoever of this new device which really does deserve to be talked about.
The vita launched in Japan long before North America so many people were looking to the sales in Japan to estimate how well it would do in North America and well, it didn't hold up. Sony's excuse for the, as some would call it, fail of a launch was that the psp is still quite popular in Japan and people did not want to switch over to a new platform. Whatever the actual reason was it seems to be doing much better in North America already, selling half a million units upon release! In my opinion it will only sell more and more as now advertisements are starting to pop up more more. Before launch i hadn't seen a single ad, granted I don't watch a lot of television, but I do consume mass amounts of internet. However, after the North American launch vita ads have been pre-rolling before youtube videos. Most of the people I know watch far more youtube than actual television and so I wouldn't be surprised if it gains a lot more awareness, at least in my circle of acquaintances.
The device itself is pretty high quality, with two analog sticks (finally!!), front and back touch screens, a 3g and wi-fi version both of which can access the playstation store to digitally download games right onto the device, six-axis motion controls, front and rear cameras and more! In my opinion the best thing the vita has going for it is the fact that you can load games from your ps3 onto your vita, which will help sony with ps3 sales as well if people see the two as sort of a package. The worst thing about the vita has got to be the camera. When compared to various phone cameras it simply does not hold up. But, if you want to take pictures of things you can easily use the fore-mentioned phone. The vita camera is more for augmented reality which I hear it does pretty well.
All in all this is a fantastic product if you're into handheld gaming and it deserves a lot more press. I recommend you at least check it out even if you're not into handhelds, this one might be your thing!

Internet Adventures - AC3 Box Art Leaked!

This week the assassins creed box art was leaked to gaming sites such as ign.com. I strongly suggest that fans of the series check out the examination of it done by historian and ign employee He Only Does Everything Colin Moriarty. AC (assassins creed) has been one of my favourite series since the very beginning, the mix of stealth, historical fiction and general bad assery makes for a very unique and enjoyable play. The parkour doesn't hurt either. This new addition to the series is set in the american revolution with an entirely new assassin. It seems from the style of armour and weapons that your character will be friends with the native americans which could make for some interesting forest parkour and you will definitely be against the british, but again I recommend you watch the ign examination of it. ----> http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1219827p1.html<----
